We had something at school that was internet-like: in the IT room, all the computers were on a shared network. Which everyone used to chat each other up anonymously.
I think we might have had the internet at home quite early. It was, however, rubbish then. I only started being interested in it in about 1997, which I think was when I was reading Popbitch a lot.
